Unfortunately because of a family emergency, we were not able to hear David Bleiman our scheduled speaker, and instead we were shown two videos of great collecting interest.
The first was For the Record, a 2009 film by Leah Biel which took us into the fascinating and varied world of US and Canadian record collectors. It included interviews with a dozen collectors, including Michael Biel, Tim Brooks, Kurt Nauck, Steve Ramm, Ray Wile and Fred Williams.
The second much shorter video was a student production shot shortly before the closing of Edinburgh’s Gramophone Emporium in 2014. It was shown during a film event at the Edinburgh Fringe later that year. To great amusement, it included appearances by a few of those present on December 6.
